Luxury Homes and Lifestyle in South Bristol, ME: A community unfractured by a population that dwindles with the leaves

Half of South Bristol, the village of Walpole characterized by its forests and coastal farmland, is located on a peninsula bordered to the north by the town of Bristol and to the west by the Damariscotta River.  The other half of South Bristol, the village of Christmas Cove noted for its abundance of shingled summer homes, is located on an island south of the village of Walpole bordered to the south by the Gulf of Maine and to the east by John’s Bay.  While the encompassed two distinct villages are separated by a bridge and the town lacks a downtown area or town center, most residents of the almost 900 year-round residents of this fishing and resort community are adamant that the first selling point of South Bristol is the welcoming and tight-knit community.

Where the central meeting point depends on the day

While there is no Main Street here, residents of South Bristol find sites to congregate and things to do.  Pick up the morning newspaper at one of a number of quaint general stores, drink a microbrew and enjoy a waterfront concert at a cute restaurant, or dock your boat at one of the marinas.  Whichever you may choose, all of these activities and many more are ones that allow for residents to catch up with their neighbors and engender the close-knit community that its residents yearn to maintain. If there is anything you might need that South Bristol does not offer, the town of Boothbay Harbor is just minutes away.

Rich in history, wildlife, and scenery
