Real Estate Agent

Jackie Wheelwright has been a real estate broker for more than 35 years, and her decades of experience have made her completely comfortable with the real estate process. She also knows houses, having bought, renovated, and resold many houses throughout Massachusetts and Maine. 'There's more to it than pricing,” says Jackie. “Knowing how to highlight what's beautiful about the home, inside and out, is the key aspect. Whether a potential buyer is looking at the photos online, driving by or walking through the door, you want them to fall in love, to imagine their life there. This is especially important now with your home exposed to the world through the internet.”

Jackie grew up in South Attleboro, Massachusetts, immersed in her family’s business of excavating, developing, and selling new construction. Her parents were also investors in multi-unit properties, hence an immersed education. Her years in the family business enabled her to learn the ins and outs of construction, as well as negotiate with contractors, and excel at working with both tenants and buyers. “In the process, I Iearned a lot about problem-solving, especially how to work with contractors and satisfy buyers.”

“With real estate, I bring a strong comfort level, knowledge, sincerity, and resolve,” says Jackie. “I am a natural problem solver, so I take great pride in helping someone find the home of their dreams, or move on to their next adventure. Connection with people is very important to me. That is the best part of the job, actually listening to what my clients want and knowing when it comes around.”

Jackie moved to Islesboro in 1999 and eventually settled in Rockport after purchasing an investment property. She also ran an art gallery on Islesboro for some years and enjoyed being part of the Midcoast artist community. She loves the countless outdoor recreation opportunities in Maine, including kayaking, hiking, golfing, biking. She especially loves boating in Penobscot Bay and describes it as “pure magic” with its clear water, dolphins, seals, and quintessential Maine islands.

Jackie’s life is busy with her husband George, five grown children and two grandchildren, chickens, organic gardens and cooking for family and friends. She is on the board of both Habitat For Humanity and Gathered Good, a gleaners organization that connects excess farm produce to food pantries. She has a passion for Maine, its natural beauty, simplicity of living, and a love for real estate that is unparalleled.

“I'm happy in my work and in my life, and that gives clients a feeling of being at ease and knowing they can trust me to help them achieve their goals. I treat all my clients as dear friends or family members, always watching out for their best interests. My job has created many endearing friendships and joy from hearing how much they love their new homes. I hear how they have connected with neighbors and friends and feel what I feel, community and belonging. How amazing is that and it’s beautiful to boot!'
