Mount Desert Island Office Welcomes Edythe Dyer

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
6 Neighborhood Road, Northeast Harbor, Maine (February 2022)

Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, Maine’s leading luxury real estate company, is proud to announce Edythe Dyer of Bar Harbor has joined the brokerage. “Edythe’s local market knowledge and passion for the business will greatly benefit her clients coupled with the marketing opportunities and cutting edge technology available at Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty,” says Chris Lynch, Founder and President. “We are pleased for her to join us in our Mount Desert Island office in Northeast Harbor.

Edythe Dyer has roots in the transactional history of real estate in New England that is four centuries and 20 generations deep. Those roots began with the settlement of colonial Boston; later the pioneering creation of Newport, Rhode Island; then the settlement of Maine’s “Gold Coast” from Kennebunk to Downeast Maine; eventually to the opening of the Penobscot River Valley wildlands fully to Mount Katahdin, and finally at Mount Desert Island.

She follows four prior paternal-side entrepreneurial generations who were significant transactors of real estate in Maine including as land speculators, commercial and private lenders, developers of commercial and residential and industrial properties, brokers, syndicators, and institutional investors.

Edythe is very knowledgeable about real estate on Mount Desert Island (where she spent all the summers of her youth), as well as the length and breadth of coastal Maine, Boston and Southern New England, as well as Costa Rica where her mother was the top-grossing agent in Central America in 2007-2008 and one of the highest-grossing agents in Costa Rica for over a decade.

She grew up in Hampden, Maine before moving to Newport, Rhode Island, where she graduated from St. George’s School. She later graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, which she chose to attend for the school’s apprenticing regimen: she worked nearly full time during her undergraduate years as a real estate sales and rental agent.

She resided in Back Bay for 20 years where she was affiliated with, among others, Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty and Cabot & Company. She had a close working relationship with one of Boston’s top 2 most esteemed and continuously prolific brokers of luxury condos, townhouses, and historic residential properties. Edythe next became the owner of her own firm on Newbury Street in Back Bay. Edythe was also a consultant to other real estate brokerage firms of greater size than her own. She managed and leased hundreds of apartments and condos for local and foreign owners and investors.

In 2017, Edythe married and returned to Maine where she and her husband are both real estate investors, brokers, and developers. She also owns a home on Hulls Cove in Bar Harbor which has been in operation for 27 years as a vacation rental property. “Oceansedge” has served over 500 families that were distinguished guests from all over the world. She understands what it takes to purchase, lease, invest in, develop, stage, and sell properties.

For each of the last 5 years, Edythe found her fondest avocation as the varsity field hockey coach at two local high schools and at a specialized sports academy. She enjoys music, art, traveling, and spending her free time on Mount Desert Island, Texas, and Sarasota, Florida.

Some of her past and/or current memberships include the Bar Harbor Club, the Algonquin Club in Boston, the Aquidneck Club in Portsmouth, RI, and the Causeway Club in Southwest Harbor.
