The Kennebunks Paint the Town Red in February with Special Events

Throughout the month of February, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport “Paint the Town Red” with a festive and romantic atmosphere packed with events celebrating the season of love. Shops and restaurants embrace the red theme with vibrant window displays and offer “red tag” and “red plate” sales and specials, including an ice party, watercolor and candle-making classes, dining in ice shacks, and more.

2023 Paint the Town Red Events

Saturday, Feb 4

Watercolor Painting Class: Join the Earth at Hidden Pond team during Kennebunkport’s Paint the Town Red to create your own masterpiece with a local artist. 3 pm, $65/person. The classes are also held on February 16 and 23rd and include a glass of bubbly.

FROSTED! Annual Ice Party: Kick off Paint the Town Red at the Boathouse. Enjoy ice sculptures, signature cocktails, and dance music by DJ Chad, plus a Magic Mirror photo booth. Tickets are $30 per person and include one drink. The event is for 21+ only. 8-11 pm

Friday, Feb 10

Couples Flow & Charcuterie: Visit the Daily Sweat yoga studio in Kennebunk for a special Couples Flow class and an optional box of charcuterie from the Port Box Co. that will be delivered in time for the end of class to enjoy with your partner. 6 pm

Saturday, Feb 18

Snow Stroll: Wear red and join a local naturalist for a winter wonderland stroll through the Mousam River Wildlife Sanctuary, participants get a $5 gift certificate to redeem at the Boulangerie. 10 am; Registration is required with a suggested donation to Kennebunk Land Trust of $15.

Thursday, February 23

Candle Making & Cocktails Class: Enjoy a unique custom candle-making class with dried flowers at the Sea Love candle studio in Kennebunkport followed by a mixology class for a special two-for-one experience. Pre-registration is required; 5:30 pm, $90/person.

Winter Fun Dining & Activities

Ice Shack Dining at Batson River Brewing
Catch a bite this winter season in one of Batson River Brewing‘s six custom and cozy fish shacks. Don’t miss your opportunity to reel in a reservation for this unique dining experience in Kennebunk, Maine. Fish Shacks are available for parties of six or less people, reservation time is limited to 90 minutes, $25 reservation fee required. Dogs are not currently allowed in the Fish Shacks.

Gondola Dining at the Burleigh & Bar Cart Series
The Burleigh at Kennebunkport Inn is offering outdoor dining in their three custom-built red Gondolas, which can accommodate up to 4 or 6 guests in each. There is a 90-minute dining limit for each reservation and a $150 food and beverage minimum.

The Burleigh is also offering a “Bar Cart” series every Saturday throughout February, where guests will learn to make classic cocktails, discover the art of wine tasting, and more:

  • February 4: Spiked Coffee & Cocoa, 2pm
  • February 11: Wines and Valentine’s, 2 pm
  • February 18: But First, Tequila, 2 pm
  • February 25: This is Probably Vodka, 2 pm

Ice Skating
Visit the open-sided Waterhouse Center Ice Skating Rink on Main Street in Kennebunk, open daily 8 am-8 pm, free.

“Coastal Lighthouse Village” Dining at the Boathouse
The Boathouse is offering private, heated outdoor dining options – four special lighthouse cottages! Inside, a space heater will keep parties of 4-8 warm and cozy (depending on which size lighthouse you reserve) as you enjoy The Boathouse’s signature service, exceptional food, and seasonal drinks. Open Monday-Saturday, 12-8 pm (closed Sundays). Lighthouses can be reserved for 2 hours.
