2021 Significant Sales

 

We are pleased and proud to share our 2021 Significant Sales publication. As one can imagine, last year’s market conditions were conducive to setting several records in many different locations across Maine. As the year passed, many record sales were superseded by yet more record sales. Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty was again fortunate to have ongoing and consistent access to some of the finest properties in Maine. Our agents were also very successful in helping our buyer clients secure the Maine property of their dreams.

I have marveled at the incredible quality of life here in Maine for many years. It is clear that many share the vision of “The Way Life Should Be,” which includes our easy and uncrowded access to amenities, light traffic, public safety, and unparalleled natural beauty. However, our real estate market was moving forward at a slow and steady simmer, at least until the middle of 2020. Since then, Maine real estate sales and property prices have grown at a torrid pace.

Many of you reading this publication are the lucky ones who successfully purchased one, or more, of these extraordinary homes in exceptional locations. We thank you for the opportunity to help you achieve your goals. For those of you who have joined us here in Maine, welcome! If you are one of the many still searching, please be patient as you will eventually find your perfect home when the time is right. Of course, we all know that we live in a small state of approximately 1.3 million people with a small housing market, consisting of about 20,000 home sales in 2021. As a result, we continue to experience a shortage of new residential inventory compared to the incredible increase in buyer demand. Very low seasonal inventory levels typically characterize the winter months, and this year is no exception. Historically, spring will bring a resurgence of new listing inventory to the market, and it stands to reason that this year will be even more robust than the past few years.

It was quite an accomplishment to manage our sales growth in 2020 as we reached more than $750 million in property sales, and again in 2021 with $924 million in sales.

As market conditions continue to become ever more competitive, our team continues to outperform. In fact, Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty had 13 agents who ranked in the top 100 agents in the state in 2021, a new record result.
