Throughout the month of February, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport “Paint the Town Red” with a festive and romantic atmosphere packed with events celebrating the season of love. Shops and restaurants embrace the red theme with vibrant window displays and offer “red tag” and “red plate” sales and specials, including an ice bar party, a winter cocktail class, dining in gondolas and ice shacks, and more.

Saturday, Feb 5

Cheese & Wine Pairing Class: Join the Earth at Hidden Pond team during Kennebunkport’s Paint the Town Red to learn the art of selecting the perfect cheese to complement your favorite bottle of wine. We’ll sample five local cheeses and share our tricks of the trade. $75 per person, 2-3:30 pm

FROSTED! Annual Ice Bar Party: Kick off Paint the Town Red at the Boathouse. Enjoy a custom ice bar with a drink luge, signature cocktails, and live performances by DJ Haylstorm and Magic Mirror. Tickets are $25 per person and include a signature “Paint the Town Red” Cocktail. Reservations for private red gondolas are $300 for up to 4 guests and will include a bottle of bubbles. 8-11 pm

Friday, Feb 11

Make-Your-Own Salt Scrub: Join us for the Cape Arundel Tree Spa Pop-Up for a Spa Salt Scrub Class as we discuss the difference between salt and sugar scrubs, how to mix essential oils to create the perfect scent for you, and the beneficial qualities of the natural ingredients you can add to your scrubs for extra-exfoliating power. We will have many different oils, scents and ingredients for you to play with and formulate what speaks to you! In this class, you will learn to make a body scrub, foot scrub and an Emulsified Sugar Scrub Body Polish. 4 pm, $60 per person

Saturday, Feb 12

Wine & Valentines: Join the annual romantic wine tasting and pairing at the Burleigh at Kennebunkport Inn, 2 pm and 4 pm, tickets $45

Cars & Cupid Scavenger Hunt: Visit the Maine Classic Car Museum in Arundel for a day of fun along with beer, wine and a sweet treat. 10 am-5 pm

Saturday, Feb 19

Winter Cocktail Class: Learn how to prepare classic cocktails with the Earth at Hidden Pond‘s team of skilled bartenders. From infusing liquors with farm-fresh ingredients to dehydrating fruit wheels, these cocktails are some of the best around! Includes four cocktail tastings. 2-3:30 pm, tickets $75 per person

Snow Stroll: Maine Master Naturalists & Maine Guide, Tony Liguori will be your guide. Enjoy a stroll (crampons suggested) through the Mousam River Wildlife Sanctuary and a $5 gift certificate to redeem at the Boulangerie. 10 am. Registration is required with a suggested donation to Kennebunk Land Trust of $15.

Tuesday, Feb 22

Snowshoeing Skills and Nature Walk: Part winter skills, part nature walk, practicing snowshoeing and exploring Hidden Pond. Learn about how the trees, birds and animals adapt to winter through migration, hibernation and outlasting starvation. Discuss dressing for winter weather, traveling over the snow, hydrating and eating. 2 pm, $40 per person.

Saturday, Feb 26

Oyster Shucking Class: Perfect your shucking skill while learning all about Maine’s oysters! You will receive hands-on instruction at Ocean Restaurant with a half dozen oysters, plus education about Maine’s oyster farms from Ken Sparta of Spartan Seafarms. 2 pm, tickets $75 per person, event 21+

Winter Fun Dining & Activities

Street Curling at the Burleigh
Gather your friends & family at the Burleigh at Kennebunkport Inn this winter for a fun game of outdoor curling! Warm up by the firepits in between curls, and be sure to grab a beverage or two from the bar (we think ‘on the rocks’ is the perfect pairing). Hours and rates: Wednesday-Sunday, 4-9 pm; $25.00 per hour (complimentary for hotel guests of the Kennebunkport Resort Collection)

Ice Skating
Visit the open-sided Waterhouse Center Ice Skating Rink on Main Street in Kennebunk, open daily 8 am-8 pm, free.

Ice Shack Dining at Batson River Brewing
Catch a bite this winter season in one of Batson River Brewing‘s six custom and cozy fish shacks. Don’t miss your opportunity to reel in a reservation for this unique dining experience in Kennebunk, Maine. Fish Shacks are available for parties of six or less people, reservation time limited to 90 minutes, $25 reservation fee required. Dogs are not currently allowed in the Fish Shacks.

Igloo Dining at Stripers Waterside Restaurant
Take in the Winter Wonderland and breathtaking views at Stripers Waterside Restaurant with our igloos. Stay safe, and warm as you sip on cocktails, snack on appetizers or savor dinner in this unique setting. Igloos are available whenever the dining room is open (weather permitting), so you can drop by for Happy Hour, dinner and even Sunday Brunch!

Gondola Dining at the Boathouse
To help you enjoy a festive, yet socially distant meal, The Boathouse is offering private, heated outdoor dining options – four red Gondolas! Inside, a space heater will keep parties of 2-6 warm and cozy as you enjoy The Boathouse’s signature service, exceptional food, and seasonal drinks. Open Wednesday-Sunday, 12-8pm (closed Mondays & Tuesdays). There is a $150 food & beverage minimum for each Gondola reservation. For Valentine’s Day, there is a $250 food & beverage minimum for each Gondola reservation. Gondolas can be reserved for 1.5 hours.
