Emilie Cole
Real Estate Professional
As a third generation Realtor, Emilie grew up with a rich appreciation of the process, care, and importance of home ownership. Her pretend play as a child consisted of drafting floor plans cross-legged on the family’s braided living room rug, or sifting through real estate catalogs during summer rainstorms on the covered porch of their Lake Wentworth vacation home. She loved listening to her mother’s stories of the office or accompanying her grandmother on hot pursuit of the next pièce de résistance. As she grew, she enjoyed attending open houses on the weekends — a favorite activity well into adulthood.
Originally from Hollis, New Hampshire, Emilie is a graduate of The Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University in New York. Fresh out of college, she worked as a photographer for USA Today and a photo editor for The Washington Post in Washington, DC, where she honed her innate ability to put anyone at ease whether it be the POTUS (who called her “sweet Emilie”), in the private office of the director of the CIA, with Oprah Winfrey in her green room, or on the sidelines of national championships to name a few. She can hold her own under pressure, with a smile, and on deadline.
Emilie moved to Maine in 2004 after vacationing in Portland mouth agape at the stunning landscape, quality of life, access to arts, and yummy eats. She established her own wedding and portrait photography business, Emilie Inc., and over the years assisted hundreds of couples, families and executives through major milestone moments with her signature warmth, attention to detail, and raw talent. She scaled the business to include a team of creatives, two Portland storefronts, regional workshops, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit, and international travel.
Emilie shares her home in Cumberland Center with her partner Tim, children William and Clara, and rescue pup Bella. They can often be found in their beloved neighborhood community around a fire with friends or exploring the splendor of the environs on bikes, hikes or on the water.
Having gone through the home buying and selling process several times herself, what stands out to Emilie goes beyond the obvious: what she recalls most was how her realtor made her feel. Creating a personal connection, feeling heard, and establishing trust are among Emilie’s top business acumen.

Emilie’s curiosity of architecture, interior design, and the everlasting impact of the memories made within a home was a favorite subject of her photography career for nearly two decades. Today, Emilie is pleased to bring her trained visual eye, discerning aesthetic, and respect of negotiation and deadlines to buyers and sellers navigating yet another significant life event. She is honored to partner with Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty and delights in the shared value of delivering an exceptional client experience.
