6 Tips for Staging Historic Homes

Staging a home to sell is a somewhat different animal when you are dealing with a historic or period home. While you want to make it appeal to the widest audience possible, you have to realize that most of the people interested in buying that type of home are attracted to historically decorated interiors. Most historic homes sell to a specific kind of buyer who is looking for character and architectural details that will make them fall head over heels.

Here are ways to put the focus on a historic home’s distinct architecture and appeal to the most likely buyers.

Home Design Tips from the Wall Street Journal

Today’s Wall Street Journal presented “Blueprint for the New American Home” which identifies some national trends in the design and style.  You can read it by clicking the link above.  There continue to be generational shifts in the way American live in their homes.

Always keep in mind, that there are also regional idiosyncrasies that may not be reflected in national trends. Maine Real Estate has its own set of preferred design do’s and don’ts.  It is always wise to consult with a Maine Real Estate Expert prior to a renovation project. While resale may not be a key consideration at the time of the renovation or new construction design, circumstances can change which may lead to marketing your newly designed home sooner than expected.
